Wings and Rings

One of Laura's favorite "daddy-daughter dates" was to go to the North End Diner (now out of business, unfortunately) for Buffalo wings and shoestring onion rings. These were simply the best Buffalo wings in town, so spicy that the first whiff would literally clear your sinuses. Laura and I both loved them!

We learned to order the onion rings to be prepared at the same time as the wings. Otherwise, the rings would sit under a heat lamp while the wings finished cooking. The combination of tastes was wonderful. Laura preferred the wings and I liked the legs, though we shared both.

One order of rings and one order or wings was enough to fill both of us completely. But Laura ALWAYS insisted on ordering the dessert consisting of a huge chocolate brownie covered with ice cream - to share. By the time Laura and I finally finished we would both be so sick we would always pinky promise not to order dessert when we came again. But every time our vow lasted only until the next visit.

To this day I do not know where Laura put all that food. But I have very fond memories of our Wings and Rings dates together.
